Training
The private sector business and professional safety curriculum offered at the Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana will be chosen from many different sources. First, courses which satisfy a national, state or local government safety certification, training or education requirement for a public or private organization will be taught on demand on a contract basis as scheduling and staffing allow. Courses used to fulfill a specific training requirement will be sourced from any local, state, regionally, or nationally recognized, approved, certified, accredited training provider, and taught by an appropriately certified instructor. Over time, as we analyze our product demand and response data, we expect that these courses will become part of our regularly offered training selections. The Public Safety Academy will offer business safety training specifically targeting the service, hospital, utility and manufacturing markets. The utility services of NE Indiana intend to establish a consortium to plan and conduct integrated utility safety training, as well as training which interfaces their operations with emergency service personnel. A NE Indiana hospital council intends to petition for appropriate medical safety training to be offered at the Academy.
Second, safety related courses will be taught in response to specific requests from public and private business, professional and service organizations. These courses will be taught on demand on a contract basis as scheduling and staffing allow. Courses used to fulfill a specific training request will be sourced from any local, state, regionally, or nationally recognized, approved, certified, accredited training provider, and taught by an appropriately certified instructor.
Third, safety related courses with a general appeal to the business or government sector will be taken from the fire service and law enforcement curricula. They may be revised to insure relevance and applicability to the business and professional environment, but will not have substantially altered course content. These courses will be presented by certified public safety professionals, or other certified instructors. Train the trainer programs will also be conducted.
