During the school year, the Fort Wayne Police Department offers safety programs dealing with pedestrian safety and stranger awareness, structured for kindergarten-aged children. The Fort Wayne Fire Department instructs primarily third grade students, along with other special interest groups, on how to escape from a burning home. The Survive Alive House uses state of the art special effects to simulate an actual house fire without any real danger.

During the summer months and after school, other programs are also offered such as bicycle safety and fire extinguisher training. Families, scouting groups, neighborhood associations, home school groups, businesses, etc. are all encouraged to visit the Survive Alive House/Safety Village and can schedule a visit by calling any of the numbers listed above.

Instructing nearly 10,000 citizens each year, the Safety Village/Survive Alive House has become a teaching facility like no other in the country. The Safety Village/Survive Alive House is currently operated under the Fort Wayne Public Safety Foundation Inc., a 501c Foundation.
