The DLETP is a three day program intended to provide law enforcement officers with the most current information regarding enforcement strategies and responses to a variety of drug crimes that may occur in their jurisdictions. The investigation and prosecution of drug crimes by Patrol, Interdiction and Drug Task Force officers is the focus of the program. The development of enforcement strategies to counter criminal trafficking patterns are presented and discussed.

The Fort Wayne Police Training Center will be conducting a one day Basic Room Clearing class at the Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana. Room clearing philosophies and movements will be covered during the morning session. The afternoon session will consist of interactive room clearing using "force-on-force" training. This course is limited to fourteen (14) officers.

The Fort Wayne Police Training Center staff, ILTB instructor certified, will be instructing this class.

WHAT: Basic Room Clearing

WHEN: June 6, 2008, 0800 - 1600 hrs.

WHERE: Public Safety Academy of Northeast Indiana

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Duty holster, flashlight and/or TAC light. No weapons allowed in the building.

COST: $ 50.00 per officer

• Role of the instructor
• Instructional techniques
• Experiential learning cycle
• Preparation of examinations
• Adult learning
• Methods of evaluation, question techniques
• Introduction to power-point
• Theories of learning

The learning experience will be enhanced through videotaping and peer group assessment. Applications will be accepted only for individuals who meet the following criteria:

• Basic course graduate
• Three years of law enforcement experience

It is required that the final 20 minute class presentation be prepared by a word processor or typewriter. Computers are available at the Training Center for participant use.
