On September 11, 2010, the Public Safety Academy held its inaugural Pubic Safety Day. The event commemorated victims of 9/11, spotlighted regional first responders, and showcased community safety information, education, & training.
The event began with a Proclamation from Mayor Henry proclaiming September 2010 as Preparedness Month in Fort Wayne, and then was followed by a memorial ceremony featuring Honor Guard members from FWFD, FWPD, and Indiana State Police. Other activities included an American Red Cross Fallen Officer Blood Drive, Don't Miss a Beat hands-only CPR training, and various public safety related displays, demonstrations, and information booths.
